The Spanish Language Arts (SLA) teacher will be responsible for leading beginner to intermediate 5th through 8th grade students whose primary language is English in the exploration of the Spanish language through both the spoken and written word (speaking, writing, listening, reading), as well as through the study of Spanish speaking cultures and their varied histories. The SLA teacher will also be responsible for teaching students whose primary spoken language is Spanish to work toward mastery of the Spanish Language Arts with an emphasis on Spanish literature and the written word.
Ideal candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Teaching experience at the middle school level
- A Bachelor’s degree or undergraduate minor in Spanish language, literature, or an equivalent.
- Written and verbal proficiency in Spanish.
- Experience and interest in curriculum collaboration and development.
- Excellent interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to relate to students, parents and colleagues.
- Experience using educational technology platforms including Google Classroom.
